The Joint Sector Group is a working body installed by the associations CER, ERFA and UIP. The JSG approach does not replace existing procedures, definitions and working groups from and for the EU, the associations, standardisation working groups or others and only treats issues that should be most favourably solved in a joint Sector-wide way and that are treated at no other place in the existing framework.

The JSG complements all running work using the existing features, compiles the adopted outputs (as principles, results and informations) and concentrates them in the fastest possible way on an easily accessible, centralised European level before their official integration in European rules and regulations.

Each activity is chaired by a representative from a member of the associations who was agreed by all represented associations.
